You may have noticed that the yellow Zig-Zag lines outside the main entrance have been ‘enhanced’ with new signage and a second set of lines. They are provided for a very good reason : The safety of pupils.
The Highway Code states: “You MUST NOT wait or park, or stop to set down and pick up passengers, on school entrance markings” (Highway Code rule 238, Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984)
Drivers who stop or park on the School Keep Clear markings are liable for the following fine and charges:
Fine: £130 (£65 if paid within 14 days from the date of issue)
The cost to release your car from the car pound is £200 (in addition to the penalty charge);
The cost of storage of your vehicle in the car pound is £40 per day (or part day); and
The cost of disposing of your vehicle is £70.

YOU CAN HELP – KEEP THE ZIG ZAGS CLEAR
Unfortunately I have had complaints from local residents about a minority of parents who park inconsiderately around the roads near school.
This then tarnishes all our parents parking skills which is a shame as the majority of you are considerate.
I do not want to name and shame parents who continue to ignore the restrictions on the yellow zig-zag markings, or those that ignore the safety of children at the school crossing – rather I will inform the Police, Council Road Safety Officers and Civil Enforcement Officers of the registration numbers of the vehicles that continue to disregard the regulations so that they may deal with the matter.
